Zohran Mamdani Promises a 'Fresh Chapter' for The Big Apple in Maiden Speech
On his first day in his new role, Zohran Mamdani vowed to “reimagine” the metropolis, ushering in “a new era” and an audacious beginning to his tenure.
An Unprecedented Leader
The new figure, who just a year ago remained a virtually unknown state assemblyman, has become the city's first mayor born in Africa. He additionally marked a milestone by being the inaugural to be sworn in using the Qur'an.
