Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
Lando Norris has outscored his teammate at each of the last five race weekends.
The McLaren driver just pipped fellow driver and championship contender the Australian for the quickest lap in the dying seconds of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who took the title advantage from Piastri by a single point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix two weeks ago, topped the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren during the running before sprint qualifying scheduled for 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the other racer in the points battle, sitting 36 points behind Norris, finished in 17th place as his team opted for a alternative strategy.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to crash, albeit lightly, when he rotated at the fourth corner early in the session.
Tsunoda lost control over the curbs on exit before spinning across the escape zone, and was blessed to escape with just a light touch of the fence.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also lost it, at the final moments of the practice, rotating twice through the high-speed Mergulho corner before the final bend on to the start-finish straight.
Hamilton ended the session in 19th, just behind teammate the Monegasque driver.
Norris and Piastri were far ahead of the rest of the field, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber in third, 0.619 seconds off Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of George Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
