The Lord of Undvik is a side quest on Skellige in The Witcher 3.
Your task is to sail to the island of Undvik, look for Hjalmar and slay the giant.
Here’s a walkthrough of The Lord of Undvik in Witcher 3.
Suggested level: 17 and above.
Ask around at New Port Inn
Before sailing to Undvik, you can go to New Port Inn to ask about the island and also on Hjalmar.
Talk to those drinking in the inn. Just ask the guy nearest to you.
Sail to Undvik
Once you’re ready, sail all the way to the island of Undvik.
You can grab a small boat at the dock.
The journey is pretty long and you may want to avoid the areas with Sirens.
Search for signs of Hjalmar’s presence
After reaching the island, you can head towards the ruins of Urskar.
Along the way, you’ll see some hints on the ground.
Just follow the obvious path until a cutscene loads.
You will then see the giant feeding some Sirens.
Get rid of the Sirens
If you don’t have the horn for the Sirens yet, you can use Signs to bring them down.
We used Aard to knock them down from the sky. Once they’re down, kill them.
Talk to the stranger
Climb onto the boat and you’ll see a man inside. Talk to him.
Once you’re done, continue on the road.
Explore the remains of Hjalmar’s camp
You should reach the remains of Hjalmar’s camp. Use your witcher senses to find for clues.
Follow the footprints.
You’ll find some dead nekkers along the way.
Continue going until you reach the Abandoned Village. Keep searching for clues.
Go all the way until you find footprints leading to a cave. Outside the cave, you may be able to find the horn which can bring Sirens down.
Look for the man the trolls captured
You need to look for an archer who was taken by trolls.
Inside, you’ll find a couple of trolls. Kill them if possible.
Keep looking around until you find two trolls boiling the man alive.
Play for him
During the conversation, you can choose to play a riddle for the man in the cauldron.
The answer is “A troll”. The trolls will let you leave with the man (Folan) without a fight.
Explore the ruins of Urskar
Together with Folan, head to the ruins of Urskar.
In this village, look for more clues.
You’ll find some footprints. Follow it.
You’ll then reach a cave. Enter the cave.
Inside, you’ll find more monsters. Kill them all. To proceed further, you need to jump into the lake.
The place is pitch black so you need to use a torch inside. There’ll be monsters down here. Take them out as well.
Look for clues on what had happened to Hjalmar’s crew. You can use your witcher senses to find the clues. They’re on dry land.
Continue following the clues as you climb up the place.
You will then reach the top with a big tree. There will be some Harpies surrounding the area.
You can choose not to engage and look for a way to climb up further.
There’ll be more dead bodies along the way.
Keep following the path until you reach the outdoors again. You will be at Clan Tordarroch Forge.
Inside, you will find more monsters and most of Hjalmar’s crew who are dead.
Look for Hjalmar
Once you’re done with the place, continue following the footprints.
You will reach another village, and this time, you will see Hjalmar fighting.
Help him kill the Sirens.
Find a way to the giant’s lair
Together with Hjalmar and Folan, head to the giant’s lair.
You can follow Hjalmar there.
Should you free Vigi the Loon?
When you’re finally at the giant’s lair, you need to decide whether to save Vigi or not.
If you don’t release him, he’ll die. You should save him and he’ll fight alongside you.
To get the key, you need to walk on the parts with no snow (meaning the black areas).
The chest containing the key is near the sleeping giant. Pick up the key and return to Vigi to release him.
(Mini Boss) Kill the giant
You then have to defeat the Ice Giant together with Folan, Hjalmar and Vigi. They will help to distract the giant.
Just dodge around the giant and you should survive.
Use Yrden (magic trap) to slow the giant and you can easily kill him.
After some time, the giant will start using a big weapon. You can avoid it by dodging away.
The quest ends after you kill the giant.
If you wish to loot the giant’s body and other stuff, choose to stay first.
